Somerset Over 60s won a close match at Leamington Spa this week beating Warwickshire by three wickets to progress to the semi- final of the ECB competition.
The pitch was damp in the middle but both ends were rock hard and neither sides batting reflected what was a good wicket
Batting first the hosts were bowled out for 118 in 36 overs, with all of the Somerset bowlers doing a great job, Mike Smith taking three for 30 , Brian Brogden four for 28 and Norman Botton two for 14
When they replied Somerset found themselves at 28 for three inside the first 10 overs but Mike Fear with 30 and Tony Scott 28 seemed to be leading them i to a winning total . However a further flurry of wickets brought the end of the match to a far tenser finale than was needed with perhaps the winning runs being amassed with byes which somewhat reflected the batting of both sides. .
In the semi final on Tuesday 28th August Somerset have been pitted against Hertfordshire who reached the last four by beating Middlesex.
