What a contrasting summer we have had!!! First the Snow then extreme wet for preseason followed by the Heatwave we are having currently!!

The Somerset Cricket Groundsman Association would like to make you aware of the Trailer Scheme, some upcoming events and information you may find useful!

End of Season Renovations-  Popular Trailer Scheme Available to book now!!!

Our Trailer Scheme is very popular with clubs looking to carry out renovations to their pitches at the end of the season and is now available to book. Anyone looking to hire the trailer should contact Phil Mortimer - morts@tiscali.co.uk (North & East) and Dave Counsell - David.Counsell@sky.com (South & West). 7th August: Dennis Sisis Cricket Pitch Renovation Day at Cheltenham College.

Free of charge but places are limited must be booked by emailing roger.moore@dennisuk.com

Day will cover presentations on End of Season Renovations and Soil Cores, complimentary lunch followed by practical group sessions covering both Aeration & Renovations

20th August: Somerset Cricket Groundsman's Day at The Cooper Associates County Ground

After the success of the this in 2017 despite the weather the Somerset Cricket Groundsman's Day returns for Somerset vs Essex on Monday 20th August.

From 12noon to 1pm a Buffet Lunch will be served on the Thatchers Terrace for attendees where those attending will be able to enjoy the cricket from best view in the ground. At 1pm during the Lunch interval attendees will be able to go on to the pitch with Head Groundsman Simon Lee to hear him discuss what he & his team do to prepare the Cooper Associates County Ground and as him questions which you may want to ask him.

Want advice on improving your pitches?

The association runs a pitch advisory scheme to offer clubs support and advice to help to improve pitches across the county. Basic visits are free of charge and visits can be booked through SCGA Chairman Phil Mortimer on morts@tiscali.co.uk
