Sri Lanka Tour Day 1
Both the U15 boys and U17 girls had a busy first day, both training and sightseeing in Kandy.
The boys enjoyed the opportunity to train at the Pallekele International Stadium early morning. They began with rotations of batting, bowling and rest (!), followed by a first opportunity of the year to catch some hard balls. They begin their match programme tomorrow with a fixture at the University Ground in Kandy which will give the boys their biggest challenge yet where they'll be hoping to bat for longer than fifteen minutes. A great start to the tour!
The girls enjoyed their first training session and despite the afternoon heat they embraced every second, even the sweat.. we think! Not many people get to say they have trained and played at an international cricket venue and the girls certainly made the most of their training session with net and fielding rotations to give them the best chance to execute their skills in tomorrow's fixture. Adapting to both pitch and weather conditions is probably the biggest challenge out here but the girls are here to learn and develop themselves both as players and as people.. Sri Lanka isn't a bad place to do that!
Lions Sports Travel provided excellent tour guides to show the squads around the Kandy.
