Our objectives

Our Vision

To make cricket the sport of choice for people in Somerset.

Our Mission

To create pathways for all participants to fulfil their potential, promoting the game with passion and enthusiasm, offering everyone the opportunity to be involved and to make their experience fun and enjoyable.

Our Core Objectives

To fulfil our stated mission we will:

  • Increase adult participation and improve player retention
  • Increase disabled opportunities and participation in cricket
  • Support schools cricket more than ever before
  • Deliver a high quality performance programme
  • Improve development opportunities for volunteers
  • Modernise our communication methods
  • Align objectives with key stakeholders

Our Corporate Structure

Originally created by the ECB in the mid 1990’s, Somerset Cricket Board was incorporated as a limited company in 2011.

We hold a public AGM and also host affiliated club meetings across the county whereby over two hundred members (clubs, schools, associations etc.) are invited to attend. These meetings are a vital component of our objective to improve communication, and to develop a wider sense of ownership of the future of cricket activities within the Somerset cricket community

There is a Board of Directors managing the company’s activities on behalf of the members. The Directors include three senior personnel from Somerset CCC, (CEO, President & Academy Director) emphasising the close working relationship that exists in the county between the professional and recreational aspects of the game. It also includes the Cricket Development Manager, who is responsible for the day to day running of the Board’s professional staff.

Our Partners:

The main partner is the ECB, who provide a large proportion of our core funding.

Additionally we work very closely with Somerset CCC, all local Leagues, Chance to Shine, state and independent schools, County Sport Partnerships, Somerset Umpires and Scorers Association, Somerset Groundsmans Association and Somerset Coaches Association.
