Cricket Development Manager - Andy Fairbairn

Andy joined the Somerset Cricket Board in March 2012 having previously been employed by Devon Cricket Board for six years. Andy's main areas of responsibility are strategic planning and financial management as well as line managing all SCB employees. Andy is also the main contact for clubs and schools regarding facility development and funding applications.

Senior Development Officer - Brian HoyleBrian Hoyle

Brian has been employed by the Somerset Cricket Board for 12 years and has a vast understanding of cricket development in Somerset. Brian is in charge of coach education in the county and ensures that the needs of new and existing coaches are met by putting on and administrating numerous coach education courses throughout the year. Brian also leads on ClubMark in the county and manages a team of volunteer ClubMark accreditors who support our many clubs through the process. Brian manages our junior competition program which includes the ECB club U13 & U15 cups and primary school ASDA Kwik Cricket competitions.

Youth Development Manager - Scott Chappell

Scott joined the staff in October 2016 having previously worked in South Devon as a Community Coach, County Age Group Coach and Tutor. Scott manages Somerset’s Chance to Shine projects and offers support to the clubs and schools involved. Scott also manages the board’s Community Coaches and casual coaches, as well overseeing the board’s holiday courses, Development Centres and other coaching activities. Boys Head Coach - Greg Kennis

Greg joined the board as a full time member of staff in August 2012 having previously managed the board's Emerging Player Programme and been a county age group coach. Greg has recently completed his ECB level 4 coaching course, a process which takes over two years. Greg manages and coaches on the cricket board Emerging Player Programme and is also head coach for the U12, development squad and U17 county boys teams. He also oversees the player pathway in the county which includes the extremely important district cricket programme. Developing other coaches in the county is also a major part of Greg's role and he works closely with the Somerset Coaches Association to help achieve this.

Women & Girls' Performance Coach (part-time) - Paul Lawrence 

Paul has taken over from Caroline Foster as our lead coach for female cricket in Somerset. His areas of responsibility include district, county, emerging players and senior women's cricket in the county.
Paul is an ECB Level Three coach specialising in Spin, he is a qualified ECB coach education tutor and assessor and he was recently appointed as lead coach at Wellington School. Paul is lead coach of our Women's team and our Under 17s team.
Paul has previously worked with Australian Terry Jenner, coaching spin bowlers from both Australia and the UK. Paul also works with the England Women and Girls Development Academy.

Cricket  Administrator - Matt Counsell

Matt joined the staff in July 2014 after two years working part-time on the SCB district programme and also the county age group programme (boys and girls). In addition to these areas Matt now oversees all SCB commercial coaching programmes, Centre of Excellence bookings, website administration as well as assisting in all administrative work within the Somerset Cricket Board. Richard Huish Academy Head Coach (part-time) - Keith Parsons

Ex Somerset professional, Keith Parsons manages the Richard Huish Academy programme and also heads the coaching on the programme. The Academy is the result of a successful partnership between Richard Huish College and the Somerset Cricket Board that has 12 players on its books. The players combine academic studies at the college with a mixture of weekly 2:1 coaching sessions, group coaching sessions and fitness sessions throughout the off season and a full calendar of fixtures during the summer. The academy is based at The County Ground, Taunton and has a fantastic team of level three and four coaches who are all vastly experienced in coaching and developing talented players.

Community Coach, South Somerset - Andrew Skidmore

Appointed in January 2015, Andrew Skidmore heads up Chance to Shine delivery across the south of the county. With a range of experience working in sport development and four years as a coach on the Bridgwater Cricket Club Chance to Shine programme he is well acquitted to head up school delivery and his passionate coaching style will no doubt engage the next generation of young cricketers.  With a role that predominantly focuses on Secondary School delivery Andrew runs a number of extra-curricular sessions at a range of schools, he also oversees all secondary school competition. Community Coach, North Somerset - Alex Taylor

Alex was appointed in March 2015 as our new community coach in North Somerset. Heading up Chance to Shine delivery for the region, he is based at Wellsway School and works predominantly in the Bath, North Somerset and South Bristol areas. Playing his cricket at Keynsham CC and with a wide range of coaching experience Alex is highly qualified to deliver the Chance to Shine and Somerset Cricket Board message to both primary and secondary pupils across the region. Alex is an ECB level 3 coach delivering on the SCB boys and girls performance programmes. As well as now being an ECB coach education tutor.
