Somerset over 60s homepage

Somerset Over 60s provides the opportunity for those who, while progressing in years, have lost none of their enthusiasm for the game.  We play in the Western (1st XI) and South West (2nd XI) regional leagues of the ECB National Competition.  Our 1st XI won the championship in 2015 and a number of our players have gone on to gain international honours.

Continuing to play cricket at a reasonable standard is not only enjoyable and fulfilling, it provides the opportunity to maintain valued friendships both among colleagues and as we travel to play other county sides.  And, of course, there is the added value in our having regular exercise – even if some of the knocks and strains can take a little longer to repair these days!

We benefit greatly from the generosity of clubs which make their facilities available to us, hosting our matches by preparing good wickets and delivering a high standard of catering. This is a real plus and is much appreciated.

By running two sides we are able to offer games to a broad range of playing abilities and have seen how even the most seasoned player can develop and improve given the opportunity to keep playing regularly.

We are always pleased to hear from those who may be wondering about the future of their involvement in cricket and warmly welcome those who might consider continuing to participate in the game and defer ‘hanging up their boots’ for a while longer.
